The big question that we faced when starting lean was where the hell to start? I personally tend to complicate things. We needed a new workbench for our mill tooling. This is the second part of a multiple part series on creating new work cells. We are going to track how a bunch of little 3S activities over time can add up to a ton of waste eliminated. In this video, we demonstrate sorting and standardizing […]
We needed a new workbench for our mill tooling. We will be conducting a multiple improvement series to show you the evolution of the workbench and how a bunch of little 3Sing activities can add up to a big gain. In this first video, we are just putting things away and organizing them onto the […]
We touch a couple of minutes to redo the way we hold our trash can bags in place. This now saves us about 15-30 seconds of struggle everything we change a trash bag.
When we do 2 Second improvements, most of the time we look to reduce internal waste. Sometimes we can reduce internal waste in unusual ways. Hardboiling eggs is always a chore. You have to get out the pot, boil water, and watch it carefully the whole time. It’s a lot of water that gets wasted and it’s hard to tell when it’s done. The Egg Genie solves all this problems and is uber simple to use. See the video below. […]

In today’s 2 second improvement, we install an industrial pallet rack that solves a number of issues we had with our old homemade rack out of board lumber. We now can put pallets on the rack with a forklift in 1/2 the time it used to take us and don’t have to worry about bumping […]
We have a tool chest in which we keep a set of general tools for various different general uses around the shop. However, it was a mess. We have too many of different tools and everything was just thrown in the drawers. The first step of lean is to do what is called 3S. Your […]
We did another improvement to the drill table to save even more time. If you look back, you will notice that we’ve done many small improvements to this table and they’ve added up to a HUGE timesaver. This operation is no longer a constraint anymore and we can tackle the next problem area, box making.
