2 Second Lean: Miter Saw

Here at Fine Line Automation, we have started down a journey of lean manufacturing.  To help us with our journey we are publishing a series of videos on 2 Second improvements we are making.  The first set of these videos involve improving set-up times for processes so we can move to a one piece flow manufacturing model.  I hope you enjoy the feedback.

Setting up both the miter saw and the band saw was a lot of work.  We managed to shave over 1 minute of setup time off of EACH CUT with the band saw, 7 minutes off of the initial setup of the miter saw (We eliminated the process of setting up an infeed roller!) and over 30 seconds off of each the positioning of the miter saw stop.  We just saved a TON of time.

The fence for the miter saw is from INCRA.  The BandSaw fence is 8020 extrusion.

I would like to thank Paul Aker’s from FastCap for starting us down this journey and answering questions that I have.
